Yoga Class Descriptions

Kali Natha Yoga

Flow in the mystical dance: Weaving together pranayama, asanas, chanting, mudras and meditation, Kali Natha Yoga embraces the wholeness of who we are. Encouraging us to stretch into our potential while honoring the wisdom of our bodies, we release old patterns and become more flexible. The movements are deep with meaning and purpose and are taught from the heart. This yoga is a puja (moving prayer) designed to invoke and awaken specific qualities within us that help us to better understand the complexity of who we are while living in the simplicity of love. Come experience the mystical flow. Classes facilitated by Ramani: Betsy Vaught 727-204-9324

Restorative Yoga with Kristine
Wednesdays, 5:45-7pm & Saturdays, 9-10:15am
Restorative Yoga uses poses modified to meet the body’s needs, yogic breathing,
energy work and restorative postures to ease away the aches and pains of life. It is
practiced with a focus on alignment to improve strength and balance and expand range
of motion, and is very beneficial after injury or illness. Movement is medicine, and yoga,
used with knowledge of the body and compassion for its’ limits in the moment, is a
deeply therapeutic practice.   Kristine is a registered nurse and a classical-eclectic Hatha Yoga teacher, RYT-200.  See or call 727-873-9806 for more information.

Tai Chi with Shifu Aston Hugh
Mondays & Wednesdays, 11am-12pm
Aston Hugh has been teaching Tai Chi for over 50 years and is a true Master at his Art. He has taught at many wellness centers and schools throughout his extensive career and has been invited to lead countless seminars and workshops all over the world.  His style of teaching is gentle and through and has been reported by hundreds of his students to have helped tremendously with agility, mobility, health and balance as well as stress reduction. Repressed and physically stored emotions can be released by breath, mind and body coordination and integration. Utilizing this discipline over time, posture can be improved, tension relieved and a feeling of well-being enhanced. Tai Chi is a gentle form and this class is open to all ages and all levels of ability and mobility.
Originating in China, Tai Chi features choreographed movements that have been practiced for thousands of years in the Far East. The slow and gentle movements of this ancient form can be used as training for martial arts, for health purposes or to develop and use intrinsic energy for healing and health.  Because the movements are slow and gentle without impact, they are ideal for people of all ages and physical abilities. The focus on breath and breathing becomes meditative, resulting in a relaxation of the mind, while gently strengthening and aligning the structure and energy of the body.  In Chinese philosophy, Chi is the continuous flow of natural energy that links all entities in the universe. It also unifies the body's tissues, organs and brain functions resulting in a balancing of body, mind and spirit. Chi Kung is the art and skill of training and directing this natural energy by means of breath and mind. With practice and time, control over one's internal energy is increased and eventually can be consciously directed for the prevention and cure of mental and physical illness and stress. By properly aligning and moving the spine, Chi flows freely, and muscles, tissues and deep organs are softened and massaged. The legs become strong and the upper body remains relaxed. The practice of Chi Kung releases repressed and physically stored emotions by breath, mind and body coordination and integration. Posture is improved, tension relieved and a feeling of well-being is enhanced.  Class is available by donation.
